Property Description

The W.T. and Eloise Alexander House features a unique architectural design with its low-slung, wraparound porch and vernacular Ionic columns. The four bedroom, one bath home is located on a corner lot with mature plantings in a neighborhood near downtown Lenoir. The two-story, square-shaped home features original wood-shake shingle walls with a flared pyramidal roof, central chimney, and two-over-two double-hung sash windows. The house has a one-story kitchen and bath addition. The property also has an old coal shed which has become overgrown over the years but still has the original coal. The understated interior includes a handsome diamond-shaped single-pane window located over the staircase. Although the original newel post and banister were removed, all but one of the original mantels remain. The house requires a complete rehabilitation including all new systems. The tax value on the house in 2005 was $42,500.

Additional Notes

The county seat of Caldwell County, Lenoir is a vital Main Street City at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Winner of a 2008 All-American City award, the area offers a variety of activities including recreation areas like the T.H. Broyhill Walking Park.
