The house was built in the mid 1860s and took approximately 4 years to build. It was built into the hillside, known as bank construction, which separated commercial and residential activities. The street level operated for over 130 years as a tavern. The building also served as a stage coach stop, the area's first post office and the local community center. The residential entrance is in the rear of the property. A beer garden/ picnic shelter served as an area of social gathering and games.

Camp Springs House is a 4 story/ 5 bay stone building constructed of rubble limestone. Bought by Bill and Carolyn Allender in 1999, it was in need of significant renovation. Two high efficiency furnaces and central air along with new duct work were installed. Most of the plumbing and electric were replaced. New windows were installed with the intent, that from the street, to fit the era of the house. The kitchen has hickory cabinets and granite counter tops. Except for the bathrooms, the floors are laid with Brazilian cherry plank flooring. Renovations have included reconfiguring the house for a 2 suite Bed and Breakfast business. Woodwork has been designed and milled at a workshop located at the house.

Camp Spring House is run as a Bed and Breakfast on a part-time basis. It sits in an area of vineyards and wine tasting rooms, stables and agritourism ventures. The setting is rural, but only 12 miles from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, KY.
