Property History
Built in partnership with Engineer Quincy Adams Gilmore, John C. Goodridge, Jr., a Brooklyn Heights doctor, and two other men, the group founded the Coignet Agglomerate Company of the United States in 1869 later renaming the company, New York and Long Island Coignet Stone Company.

Years prior, the team of men learned a new concrete pouring technique in France and decided to bring it to the United states, hence New York and Long Island Coignet Stone Company. The building was a show piece to display the durability and the artistry of the cement adornments. The technique has been used in structures around NYC such as Metropolitan Museum of Art and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

As the "oldest known concrete structure in New York", The Coignet Stone Company Building, earned the prestigious historically landmark status in 2006.

Property Description
A true American treasure, the Coignet Stone Company Building was constructed in 1873 and is every bit the statement its reputation carries. Still as impressive today as it was when constructed, this remarkable structure is famous for both its beauty and location. Sitting on a corner lot in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, make it visible to all who pass by.

Gorgeous oversized windows and doors create sensational drama to each of the spaces inside. Original curved staircase and classic cornices increase both charm and grandeur. Incredibly tall 12 foot ceilings and a cavernous basement with a ceiling height of 11 feet, add volume to each of the quarters.

The building is zoned as mixed use and could house living quarters as well as a commercial work space. The location of the building is highly trafficked by both pedestrian walkers and bicycles. Surrounded by innovative design firms, artist collaborative spaces, and a large Whole Foods market, the building could be used to service a variety business firms such as an art gallery, library, bank, museum, or perhaps private offices. Mass transit is also very close by.

Additional Notes
Exterior renovations are complete. Building will be delivered vacant. Interior debris has been removed to begin renovations as soon as buyer is ready.
