Property History
Reduced in Price Again - Negotiable! Come take a look ~ you won't be disappointed.

The Twitchell Gallaway home was built by Randall Duke Scales for his daughter, Elizabeth Twitchell, as a wedding present in 1832.

Colonel John Gallaway bought the home in 1879. He was a Colonel in the Confederate Army. He had a regimen in Rockingham County, which is where the home is located.

Dabney Cosby, Sr. worked and studied under President Thomas Jefferson. While working for President Jefferson, Mr. Cosby learned about Classical Architecture and applied it to the Twitchell Gallaway home when he constructed it.

Thomas Day is well known throughout Virginia and North Carolina as a Master Craftsman of cabinetry and furniture.  Mr. Day crafted all of the interior trim and molding work, as well as, all the mantels, doors, central stair case and wood floors. Some of his furniture can be found today in the Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC.
